Okada Masaki joins "Legal High 2" as new rival lawyer

Okada Masaki will be joining the cast of FujiTV autumn 2013 drama "Legal High 2" which will begin its run from October in the Wednesdays 10pm timeslot. He will be playing Hanyu Haruki, a lawyer who switched lines from a prosecutor, is such a nice guy that Komikado (Sakai Masato) can't bring himself to dislike him and secretly holds a torch for Mayuzumi (Aragaki Yui). According to the production crew, Hanyu would not be involved in a direct battle against Komikado as he goes by the belief that fighting is not the way out and mediation is the way to go so that everyone will be in a win-win situation.

Tanaka Kei gets his first leading role in a drama through "No Con Kid Bokura no Game Shi"

Tanaka Kei will get his first leading role in a drama through the TV Tokyo autumn 2013 drama "No Con Kid Bokura no Game Shi" (No Con Kid Our Game History). The drama features how a trio of three youngsters grew up with video games from the 1980s to 2013 and how it affects their lives in terms of studies, love and career. Tanaka plays the role of Watanabe Reiji as a 15-year-old teenager back in 1983 whose father operated a video games centre "Game Centre Watanabe" which was extremely popular with students and salarymen. Reiji's classmate Kido also frequented the game centre but Reiji himself had no interest in games. Until the day when a mysterious beautiful teenager Takano came to the game centre and played games, Reiji then started dabbling in the video games and even challenged Kido to a competition. Tanaka will play Reiji all the way till he's 45 years old so he commented that it will be interesting to viewers to see how the trio will develop and change as they grow older.

The word "No Con" actually comes from the "No Continue" one-coin game machines popular between 1983 to the mid 90s. The production crew went to secure rights to mention the actual game names in the drama which will definitely be nostalgic to viewers in their 30s and above.

The drama will be shown from 4 October at 12.52am on Fridays via TV Tokyo and TV Osaka.

HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA new maxi single "HALLOWEEN PARTY"

New updated information has surfaced on hyde's Vamprose official website with details on the upcoming release. Once again the special project of hyde's HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA will release a new maxi single titled,"HALLOWEEN PARTY" which will drop on 2013.10.16 for a cost of 1,500yen, and includes CD+DVD.

Furthermore it has been announced that this year there will also be a new hyde figurine sold at the venues. The largest Halloween event in Japan's history which carried several dates and locations in the past has not been revealed as of yet for "Halloween Party 2013" but we will keep you posted on the schedules as they are announced.

Nogizaka46 to release their 7th single in November

Nogizaka46 have revealed that they will release a new single (currently untitled) on November 27.

This surprise announcement was made on August 30 during the Zepp Tokyo daytime concert of their nationwide tour 'Manatsu no Zenkoku Tour 2013'. Regarding the new song, captain Sakurai Reika commented, "We want to make a single that will meet the expectations of everyone and surpass our previous single 'Girl's Rule'."

The details and senbatsu members for the single have not been revealed at this time. Nogizaka46's 6th single "Girl's Rule", with Shiraishi Mai as center, has become a hit song selling over 500,000 copies.

I didn't know that Girl's Rule reach 500K; in this case they are the 3rd among AKI-P's current creation who reached 500K and their fans as well as the 48 family fans that support them can boast that they achieved it without the bikini tactics.

Acid Black Cherry announces the 4th part of his giant tour!

Today, Acid Black Cherry finally announced the details for the fourth wave of his tour 'Shangri-la', a massive 47 prefectures nationwide tour (began summer 2013).

This tour is a part of Project 'Shangri-la'; a project that revolves around the effort to put a smile on the faces of all the people who love yasu's music. This project consists of Acid Black Cherry putting an effort in three simultaneous categories: 1. The release of new songs, 2. Nationwide tours through five separate blocks of Japan, through 5 set spans of time, and 3. Organizing events and opportunities which will allow Acid Black Cherry to interact with fans in each region.

The first part, second part and third part of this tour, the Hokkaido-Tohoku Tour which is taking place from August till September, the Hokuriku-Koshin-Tokai Tour which will take place from the end of September till mid-November and the Kansai-Chugoku Tour which will take place from the end of November till the end of December, have already been announced. However, this time the details on the times and places for the part 4, Kanto Tour, going on throughout February 2014, have been released.

Just like Hey What's Up, this song is also written, composed and produced by Jin himself. Compared to Hey What's Up which has a strong summer vibe, this song is a refreshing, mid-tempo tune suited to the beginning of autumn.

The completion screening event of movie"Hidamari no Kanojo" was held on 29 August which was attended by the leads Arashi's Matsumoto Jun and Ueno Juri aswell as the director Miki Takahiro. The movie will be shown in cinemas from 12 October. Miki revealed that the reason why he chose Matsumoto to appear in his movie was that the latter usually appeared to be quite strongheaded and blowing hot and cold on TV but Matsumoto has a natural smile and is considerate towards his guests on TV so he hoped to show this side of Matsumoto to the fans. As for Ueno, Miki said that the works she had been in so far never portrayed her beauty so he wanted to project this side of her through the film.

The movie which is based on the novel by Koshigaya Osamu that had sold 350,000 copies to date, features Matsumoto as Kosuke, a newbie sales department employee who reunites with Mao (Ueno) after 10 years but their relationship is thwarted by a secret she is hiding.

Over half of Japan’s 2M foreigners living in Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi metropolitan areas

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, there were 1,980,200 foreigners staying in Japan as of March this year. The information released on Thursday was based on the census of Basic Resident Registration Network System. It was also traced that most foreign residents live in the metropolis in Tokyo, Osaka, and Aichi Prefecture. Others opt for Kanagawa and Saitama prefectures.

Leading the other prefectures with foreign residents, Tokyo has a total of 385,195 foreigners alone. It accounted for 2.93 percent of the prefecture’s total population. Coming next was Osaka, having 199,800 foreign residents, or 2.25 of the metropolis’ total population. The third most resided prefecture was Aichi, with 189,787 foreign residents or 2.54 percent of the area’s population. Kanagawa also holds a number of foreign residents, reaching 159,511. The fifth most resided prefecture was Saitama, with 116,081 residing foreigners. The total population of foreign residents in these prefectures contribute to 53.04 percent of all those registered across the country.

Besides urban living, Tokyo and Osaka are also known for their education systems, making it conducive for foreigners who are studying or have children. The census taken in March was the first since Japan implemented a foreign registration system back in July 2012. The system requires foreigners living in Japan for more than three months to be listed in the country’s resident registry.

Hayao Miyazaki Retires From Making Feature Films

Studio Ghibli President Koji Hoshino announced on Sunday that studio founder and world-renowned anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki will "retire from the production of feature-length films." The announcement was made during a press conference at Italy's Venice Film Festival, one of the three most prestigious film festivals in the world. Ghibli's announcement does not rule out the possibility of Miyazaki working on shorter projects or other endeavors.

The 72-year-old director's 11th and latest feature film, The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachinu), has been playing in theaters in Japan since July 20. The film was nominated in the competitive program at the Venice Film Festival, which is running from August 28 to September 7.

Miyazaki rose to prominence in the 1970s on such television anime series as Lupin III, Future Boy Conan, and Sherlock Hound. He directed his first feature film, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, in 1979. He then adapted the beginning of his Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga into an anime film in 1984, before he and fellow director Isao Takahata founded Studio Ghibli.

With Ghibli, Miyazaki helmed the feature films Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and finally, The Wind Rises. He also co-produced Takahata's directorial efforts and directed smaller projects such as the "experimental film" On Your Mark and Ghibli Museum Shorts such as Mei and the Kitten Bus and Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess.

Spirited Away remains the highest earning film ever at the Japanese box office, 12 years after it opened in 2001. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film in 2003.

In an interview on Japanese television channel TBS's Ō-sama no Brunch program, Miyazaki revealed that he is open to the possibility of a Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind film sequel. However, he would leave such a hypothetical project in the hands of Nausicaä key animator and Evangelion director Hideaki Anno. Anno collaborated with Miyazaki and Ghibli on "Kyoshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru" (Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo), last year's live-action tokusatsu (special-effects) short, and he then voiced the lead role in Miyazaki's The Wind Rises.

Another ex-AKB member to debut in porn?

Adult video company Muteki have announced the debut of 'Haruna Aisaka, former member of National Idol Group'. Idol fans took to 2ch and twitter to hunt down possible suspects and believe it to be ex-AKB48 member Naruse Risa.

Naruse Risa was a 4th-gen AKB48 member, and was part of the group from 2007 until her graduation in 2009.

Although still active on twitter, she has stopped blogging and has quietly disappeared from the roster of talents of her old agency.

Tomoko Nakajima becomes porn video director

Tomoko Nakajima, former one half of the comedy duo Othello, will contribute to a women’s adult site, “Girl’s CH,” as a porn video director.

Nakajima, 42, made the announcement on Monday. Wearing a tight mini-skirt, Nakajima appeared at a press conference and said: “My back is the most sensitive part of my body. I ask my boyfriend to play with my back until I get satisfied,” according to Sports Nippon.

Nakajima added that she likes to be creative when giving pleasure. Her first porn video, titled “Hachigatsu no Umi,” will be released on Sept 2.

Nakajima is slowly returning to show business after a bizarre last two years when she was reportedly under the control of a mystic woman who moved into her apartment and ran her life.

Nakajima started having financial troubles in April 2011 when she took time off from her regular TBS Saturday morning variety program “Shittoko!” due to “health reasons.” Then TV stations in Osaka and Tokyo dropped her from their variety programs, and her weight ballooned.

Tabloids said her mind was being controlled by a mystic woman who moved into the apartment, isolating her from her family, friends and business contacts.

Fuji TV is suffering due to preferential treatment given to Yamashita Tomohisa

Aside from having a getsu 9 drama series with “SUMMER NUDE”, Yamapi also co-hosts a variety show, and will soon release an album titled “A NUDE”. Despite all that, something is amiss. Fuji TV is reportedly at their “wit’s end” after the single digit ratings of Yamapi’s debut in variety hosting with “Generation Tengoku”. If ratings are to be ignored, the fact that the show is in “Golden” time slot is already a struggle. Apparently, the agency and Iijima’s move to make Yamapi a “more interesting person” with his variety chairmanship has proven to be quite a challenge for the program’s director and writer. Moreover, the “suffering” continues as Yamapi’s record sales didn’t show improvement despite going via “erotic” route with “ERO-P” last year.
