moratorium-tamako-01

Today it was announced that Atsuko Maeda will star in Nobuhiro Yamashita’s upcoming film Moratorium Tamako, which is slated to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. The two previously worked together on 2012’s The Drudgery Train. That film wasn’t particularly successful at the box office, but it was well-received by critics and Maeda’s performance earned her a Japanese Professional Movie Award for Best Actress.

In the new film, Maeda will play protagonist Tamako, a lazy young woman who does nothing all day but lounge around and eat.

Tamako graduated from a Tokyo university, but when she couldn’t find a job she was forced to return to her father’s home in Kofu. Instead of helping out with her father’s business, she spends her time eating and sleeping. The story depicts her baby steps forward in life as the seasons change over the span of one full year.

According to director Yamashita, Maeda is particularly good at portraying Tamako’s misplaced anger, laziness, and hopeless attitude. As a result, what was originally produced as a TV short was extended into a full feature film in order to make full use of her talents.

The project first began as a series of 30-second station IDs for “Music On! TV” representing each of the four seasons. The premise was later adapted to a special TV drama on the same channel.

Today it was revealed that Shinnosuke Ikehata and Yosuke Kubozuka will appear in Hiroshi Shinagawa’s Sanbun no Ichi (lit. One Third).

Kubozuka will play a man named Hamasho who is described as having demon-like ferociousness while Ikehata will play an underworld big-wig moneylender named Tamiko Shibugaki.

The film is based on a 2012 novel by Hanta Kinoshita and will mark the first time Shinagawa has adapted someone else’s work. His previous two films, Drop and Slapstick Brothers, were based on his own original stories.

Back in February it was announced that Tatsuya Fujiwara will play the lead character, Shu, and his supporting cast will include KAT-TUN’s Koki Tanaka, comedian Ryuichi Kosugi, and singer/actress Mika Nakashima (Nana).

The story revolves around a bank robbery pulled off by “Honey Bunny” hostess club manager Shu, a club waiter named Koji (Tanaka), and a club regular named Ken-san (Kosugi). They’re supposed to split the money three ways, but greed soon takes over as they attempt to scam each other out of their respective shares.

Soon, Kubozuka’s character Hamasho steps into the fray with the intention of taking the money away from all three partners.

“Sanbun no Ichi” will get a nationwide release in Japan in 2014.

Fuji was said to have visited the apartment of a male friend in his 30s which was on the 13th floor and one of her slippers was found on the balcony. The police believed that Fuji could have committed suicide but no suicide note had been found so far. Fuji was found lying on the floor by passers-by who called the police and her ex-husband. Cast members of 'Sadako 3D 2' attend the pre-screening event

On August 20, the cast of upcoming horror movie "Sadako 3D 2" attended the pre-screening event.

Takimoto Miori revealed that she was not good with horror at all. She commented, "I told my manager in secret that, 'I can't do this. Please ask them to find somebody else if possible,' but it was already decided. So I had to prepare myself before attending the filming. Even during the pre-screening, I had to take my 3D glasses off since I knew when Sadako would come out."

On the other hand, Seto Koji, who also starred in the previous film, talked about a terrifying experience he had. He said, "When I was watching the previous film on DVD, it kept pausing at the same part multiple times. There was also a time somebody blew on my ear when I was watching scary video." However, he said with a smile that, "It was not that scary, but I felt more like 'Yes,' because I could brag about this in front of you guys.

At the event, Tohoshinki, who sing the theme song, also made a surprise appearance. Since Sadako appeared at the event as an assistant MC as well, Changmin seemed to become nervous as he said "I'm scared..." Yunho pleased Sadako by telling her, "You are well-known in Korea as well." Seeing Sadako livening up the event by running right and left on the stage, the director of the movie Hanabusa Tsutomu complained "Horror is supposed to be something mysterious... She thinks she is one of those 'Yuru-Chara' ("loose" mascot characters) or something, and I'm irritated about it (lol)," which brought laughter to the venue.

Yamamoto Yusuke and child actress Hirasawa Kokoro also attended the event.

Sadako 3D 2" is set for release on August 30

Acid Black Cherry (yasu) kicked off his massive 47-prefectures Project "Shangri-la" with "Shangri-la Meeting" in Fukushima on August 10th and "Shangri-la Tour" in Fukushima on August 13th. He has completed three prefectures so far (Fukushima, Akita and Miyagi) with three meetings and three concerts had been done. He is in Yamagata now and has finished the meeting in Yamagata. What is awesome about "Shangri-la Meeting", unlike nowadays handshake/high five/high touch/M&G events, NO PURCHASE is needed to enter the lotteries for "Shangri-la" meeting. You only need to reside in the specific prefecture where the particular meeting will be held and you need to express your dying love for Acid Black Cherry.

Every time he completes the meeting and concert in specific prefecture, the prefecture will turn green on the Shangri-la map. Project 'Shangri-la' is a project that revolves around the effort to put a smile on the faces of all the people who love yasu's music. Once this huge project ends, the whole Japan will turn green on the Shangri-la map, a symbol that the smile has fully infected Japan.

Each prefecture also receives special venue-only merchandise, an obitsu kewpie specially designated for the prefecture (Hokkaido receives two as it is a big prefecture and there will be many concerts over there).

Hayao Miyazaki : "If there would be a Nausicaa sequel, Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) should do it"

$

0

nausicaa

For all of Studio Ghibli’s acclaim, the famed House That Miyazaki Built has never once put out a direct sequel to one of its works. While various thematic threads run through all of Miyazaki’s films, the man, for all his genius, apparently lacks the attention span to stretch a concept into two films. That or he just really hates the idea of tacking numbers to his movies’ titles.

However that may change soon if comments Hayao Miyazaki made at a recent interview promoting his latest film and ode to tobacco smoke, The Wind Rises, are to be believed.

While appearing for a one-on-one interview during the Japanese morning talk show, Oosama no Brunch, Miyazaki indicated that he’s open to the idea of a sequel to his 1984 film, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind – his sophomore film as a director and one of his most cherished by fans. The only catch is he wouldn’t be doing the film himself.

That honor would apparently go to acclaimed Neon GenesisEvangelion director Hideaki Anno.

Anno and Miyazaki’s relationship goes back a surprisingly long way: Anno originally met the director when he was selected to help animate the original Nausicaa. Reportedly, Miyazaki was so impressed with Anno’s drawing talents, he gave the man animating duties for some of the film’s most complicated climax scenes. That, in turn, opened the door for Anno to helm the original Evangelion series.

Since then, Anno had long expressed an interest to Miyazaki in creating a sequel to Nausicaa, which makes sense as the film is actually an adaptation of just the first third of an epic manga series.

Apparently, Anno’s constant Andy Dufresne-esque nagging is finally paying off:

“I have no interest in doing a sequel to Nausicaa,” Miyazaki said on Osama no Brunch.“But these days I think if Anno really wants to do it, he should.”

So, fellow Nausicaa fans, now it’s up to us to send Anno letters, day in and day out, Shawshank Redemption-style until the man actually takes the plunge and puts pen to paper on this fabled sequel.

Takanori Nishikawa criticizes Reina Tanaka's LoVendoЯ and Hello! Pro, offers advice

0

T.M.Revolution's Takanori Nishikawa gave harsh words of advice to Reina Tanaka, formerly of Morning Musume, now with LoVendoЯ, when she guested on his show Nishikawa Takanori no Ienomi!! on NicoNico Live Broadcast.

LoVendoЯ is a "twin vocalist-twin guitarist" band consisting of members Reina Tanaka and Marina Okada on vocals, and Yuki Uozumi and Marin Miyazawa on guitars.

Tanaka was part of the unit since its formation in June of 2012 and balanced it with Morning Musume. She officially concentrated on the band after graduating from Morning Musume last May 21. (Related post HERE)

When asked about the reason for the formation of the band, Tanaka answered: "Because Tsunku-san said so".
When Tanaka told Tsunku that she wanted to graduate but still keep on singing, Tsunku offered her the position in the band.

While they were showing a live performance VTR of the band singing Takuro Yoshida's "Kyou made soshite ashita kara", Nishikawa asked:
"Uhmmm... who's the one who decides what kind of music you play?"

When Tanaka said: "The higher-ups of the company", Nishikawa replied: "Aw c'mon, let's do things properly. I don't think this is the type of music people want to hear from LoVendoЯ"

Nishikawa also gave comments to Uozumi who declared that she's a fan of Extreme's guitarist Nuno Bettencourt: "I'm sure you want to play more seriously, like powerful riffs, right?" to which Uozumi replied: "Well... Yes". But Tanaka immediately rebutted: "But things are still good the way they are now, right? We can't go against the decisions made by the agency".

Nishikawa then said to Tanaka:
"No, I don't think so! Why? What's the matter with you?"
Nishikawa said that he thought of her as a person who had strong determination, as she was able to quit Morning Musume so she can focus on the band.

Nishikawa could not understand why Tanaka needs to keep following what her agency says.
He followed up with: "People over 50 are the only ones who would think of turning folk music into rock music. I just thought to myself that no one will dig that sort of thing and was really wondering why your agency is trying to make you do that".

Tanaka answered that she's not just following what her agency tells her to do. "I did that for 10 years and failed, and that's why I'm here now after learning from all my mistakes".

Nishikawa still can't accept this and insisted that they stray away from the path the agency wants them to take: "You should officially look for a bassist and a drummer, and form a real band. I think you guys should honestly consider doing what you think is cool..."

Similar conversations continued throughout the program, and after all the arguments, Tanaka declared with a smile: "Alright! Nishikawa-san will be producing LoVendoЯ!", to which Nishikawa suddenly said: "No, don't go making declarations like that! We still can't get past the boundaries set up by your agency! But yes, if your agency will tell you to go explore possible collaborations with outsiders then..."

Nishikawa-kun's such a nice person.
Even if people know what's wrong, they won't be so blunt as this in normal circumstances.

But Morning Musume's always been forbidden to make their own music, right?
Or maybe they're just empty upstairs.

>> Is that so? Didn't Nucchi make her own lyrics, or should I say plagiarized?
Are they forbidden from composing?

Maybe the biggest problem here is that Tsunku's already grown tired of them LOL

Nishikawa should provide them with a song that each member would like

This is a sound argument by him.
Movie critic Tomohiro Machiyama said that he did recall this band appearing at a concert overseas while talking about Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's successful performance which was attended by thousands of fans. He said that the Americans didn't know what was going on with this band who was singing a Takuro Yoshida song and wasn't received well. I guess that's a given, but their agency is horrible for making them go to a match that they know they'd lose.

>> Ah, this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrW8AjnbXT8

It's boring.
I really don't know why they're playing this kind of song in this day and age.

Is there a need for Nishikawa to support Tanaka this much?
>> It might become a rumor later on.
But I heard that Tanaka's type is someone like Hiroshi Tachi.
She probably likes reptile-looking guys.

So I tried listening to the song as I was curious how it sounded but it really is horrible.
They didn't even have to perform something like this as a band.

Nishikawa-kun's so passionate

Being rebellious while she was an idol then suddenly starts following orders now that she's shifted to rock... everything about that just sounds so wrong.

He speaks nothing but the truth, no room for rebuttals.

But does Nishikawa even have the talent to produce other artists?

The moment they're given a band name you can't read normally, then you should already know that their music will be shi+e.

They'll be gone before you know it, so just let them do what they want.

I heard that TMR is self-produced nowadays, but what exactly can he do?
The lyrics are still done by Akio Inoue while the music is composed by Daisuke Asakura, right?

>> TMR can now give his opinions on the lyrics and the music.
He almost wasn't able to say anything before doing self-production.

Say something like this directly to Tsunku.
This'll just be a dilemma for these girls.

>> He's just saying, "You girls are being asked to do something so lame", but he's not trying to help them improve or anything.

But this guy also leeched onto Miguel and sang Choushuuriki, but people who saw that would also think, "That isn't what you're supposed to be doing".

It would have been better if they just kept it simple and formed a 4-piece girl punk band with proper songs and attire.
This might be what the higher-ups want, but no one will benefit from a crazy combination like this.

I really don't get what Morning Musume and LoVendoЯ are trying to achieve.
What do they want to do to Japanese music? What kind of music do they want to leave behind?
Do they just want a portion of their fans to appreciate them? Or do their fans even like the music that they're playing?

Nishikawa-kun really isn't holding back

I really wonder why they chose to do folk songs.
Even from the oldies, we have Show-Ya and Princess Princess whom they can look up to as examples of girl bands.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRYatdMoLHw

They did cover Princess Princess' Diamond during their Hello! Pro era

UP-front promotion has a bunch of amazing artists under its belt like Alice, Chisato Moritaka, Sharan-Q, and many more from the older generation. Takanori Nishikawa did succeed once Daisuke Asakura produced him, but he wasn't even successful when he was still in a band, so I don't think he's one to speak.
>> But I think the people who think that arranging '60s and '70s folk songs into rock would sell are in the minority LOL

When Tsunku produces things, the outcome just always seem so old, like from the Showa-era.
It feels dirty and unpolished, in a bad way.
Go have Nishikawa make a revolution.

Tanaka once emphasized her own beliefs too much, and it reached the point where she was even about to be terminated from the industry.

The program was fun.
The 2 guitarists were totally in sync with Nishikawa.
This is 100% a failure already.
It's on a level where even their fans would leave them behind.

That guitarist girl was much better than expected,
so she's not from Morning Musume, but from a musical school, huh?

Mio Otani to play Sena Kashiwazaki in live-action “Haganai” film

On Thursday it was announced that gravure idol Mio Otani will play busty character Sena Kashiwazaki in the upcoming live-adaption adaptation of Yomi Hirasaka’s popular light novel series Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, aka Haganai.Otani was reportedly a big fan of the anime adaptation of the series, and was particularly fond of the Sena Kashiwazaki character, so she felt as though fate was at work in the audition.

The story revolves around two social outcasts who start a special club for others in similar positions. Koji Seto plays a half-British teenager named Kodaka Hasegawa who is seen as an intimidating juvenile delinquent due to his fierce eyes and extremely light hair. Meanwhile, Kie Kitano plays a mean girl named Yozora Mikazuki whose attitude drives everyone away. Together they form the “Neighbor’s Club” (Rinjin-bu) in an attempt to make new friends. Surprisingly, others start joining one by one. Kashiwazaki is the first new member to join the club and is considered the third main character of the story. The character—who Yozora nicknames “Meat” (Niku) for her large breasts—is the intelligent, beautiful, athletic, and all-around perfect only daughter of a prominent city council member. However, other girls hate her and she treats the boys who are attracted to her like slaves. Because of this, she joins the Neighbor’s Club in an attempt to make true friends.

As was announced back in July, additional supporting cast members include Sara Takatsuki, Mao Kanjo, Sayu Kubota, Momoka Yamada, Louis Kurihara, Dai Watanabe and Yoshizumi Ishihara.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai” will be released nation-wide in Japan in early 2014.

'Braindead' Tomomi Kahala high on METH, completely NUDE... DEBAUCHERY for DRUG ADDICTED Matsuura Max

In the new issue of Shukan Bunshun, a scathing piece has been published bashing Avex's head, Max Matsuura (48). The article reveals the details of his relationship with Ayumi Hamasaki (34) and how he forced her stardom, as well as his alleged antics involving bringing multiple women home for sex, marijuana and cocaine. It also includes information about his actions with Tomomi Kahala (39), who recently made a comeback, during her dark days, in possibly the most shocking part of the article.

An eye witness gave testimony about his behavior on night at a small private club called Namikimichi in Shibuya which was holding an event full of celebrities of all areas of entertainment and numerous beautiful women dancing to loud music.

The witness, a regular at the club, said, "Tomomi Kahala was completely naked wandering around the dance floor, not even wearing panties. I couldn't believe it but she was totally nude. She was definitely high on some drugs and it was like she was sleepwalking. Her eyes were half shut and her mouth was hanging open."

Her then-lover, Tetsuya Komuro, had recently dumped her, possibly causing her to turn to drugs. This alone would be shocking but Matsuura's behavior after this is even worse. He and Avex vice-president Chiba started taunting her and then pointed at her and proudly announced "I fucked Komuro's girl" so all could hear.

While she recently had been on TV announcing her complete recovery and comeback, it seemed that she's been struggling with an addiction to men and drugs.

"When she was really bad, she would hide on the roof of her apartment tower from her assigned caretakers while cackling like a crazy person," said one source. "She'd get naked without warning, it seems like she has no common sense any more. At first out of curiosity men would flock to her, but she was so strange that the men would have sex with her once and then never contact her again. Finally one everyone abandoned her she had to check in to get help."

The article also reports that Matsuura enjoys marijuana as well as MDMA (ecstasy), supplied by his yakuza connections. Erika Sawajiri, about whom there were also marijuana rumors, said that Matsuura always had drugs prepared, although Avex vehemently denied the accusations. However suspicions about drugs remain strong.

In the 90s, Avex had the top two performers, hitomi and Ayumi Hamasaki, with hitomi being vice president Chiba's lover, and Hamasaki being involved with Matsuura. Since then the company has been walking a fine line between business and pleasure.

Also, the article reveals that Matsuura allegedly had received plastic surgery. Though he seems powerful now, Matsuura is known to be a cowardly man with insecurity complexes, and got a silicone implant to make up for his lack of chin.

From working at a record rental shop to the head of a corporation that last year saw 138 billion yen revenue and 14 billion yen profits, Matsuura has certainly grown into a successful man. But his addiction to sex, drugs and money continue to plague him. And if Kahala really has recovered from drug-fueled public nudity and sex addiction, that really is a miracle.
