Shunsuke Kazama's wife is Kazuna Kawamura, formerly linked with Ken Miyake of V6

According to Shuukan Josei, Shunsuke Kazama's wife is apparently Kazuna Kawamura, a former talent who was previously linked with Ken Miyake of V6.

The 2 met on the set of Claudia which was produced by the theater group Chikyuu Gorgeous in 2004. Claudia was staged from 2004~2005 and was a huge turning point in Kazama's showbiz career.

Kawamura was formerly an assistant or "Won-girl" (Wonderful Girls)" in Wonderful, a late night program shown on TBS. She was part of the program from 2001.  She's focused mainly on stage acting in recent years as a member of the Benibara Usagi Troupe.

Shuukan Josei also revealed that Kawamura was found to have had a relationship with Ken Miyake in June of 2010. Miyake lost his mother who raised him singlehandedly at that time, but Kawamura was apparently the one who was supporting him through those difficult times. The magazine included a picture of the two leaving Miyake's apartment standing closely to each other two days after his mother's funeral.

Both parties denied the reports at that time. Shuukan Josei asked Kawamura's agency about Kazama. The agency responded:  "I think it was around the beginning of spring this year when she requested, 'I'm going to get married so please release me from my contract'. We knew that she was in a relationship, but we only recently found out about her plans to get married." When asked about Miyake: "We heard that he's one of her friends."

Shuukan Josei also asked Kawamura's father; Keiji Takasugi who is the president of BMI. "No, don't ask me anything about that. Please direct all your questions at Johnny's. That's our deal." About Kazama:"Of course I've met him. He's a splendid man. And he was able to get married because he's splendid. (About the ceremony) That's their issue, and I have not received any word concerning that."

Nationalist netizens criticize Hayao Miyazaki’s political statements

Acclaimed animation director Hayao Miyazaki may enjoy immense popularity all over the world because of films like My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away, but this week, he is taking a beating from a lot of Japanese netizens, mostly of the nationalist persuasion. And it’s not because they think his new movie, Kaze Tachinu (“The Wind Rises”) is that bad (most of them probably have not seen it at all). It’s all because of his political stance that came out in his studio’s Neppu magazine last week.

In an article published in the monthly magazine by his animation company Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki called plans to amend the Constitution “outrageous” and had some strong comments about current hotbed issues like comfort women, territorial disputes with China and South Korea and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s position regarding Japan’s wartime behavior. This did not sit well with some nationalists, who have gone online to attack the director, calling him an “old coot”, “dim-witted” and “anti-Japanese”. That last insult is a bit ironic since his latest movie, his first since 2008′s Ponyo, is a fictionalized biography of Jiro Horikoshi, the inventor of the Mistubishi Zero fighter plane that was heavily used by the Japanese Imperial Army in World War II.

If there’s anyone who should be protesting, it should be the children who are used to seeing Miyazaki movies that are all about spirits, magic and fantastical creatures. This newest one, even though early reviews have called it “great”, is mostly aimed at the adult audience and children found it too “dull” for their tastes. However, it seems like the negative publicity from the netizens have not affected ticket sales for the movie. It was number one at the box office this weekend and is set to be the most successful film of 2013 so far. This has prompted some of his critics to also question the timing of his article, although Studio Ghibli‘s PR department has said they released the magazine before the Upper House elections last Sunday to help people decide who to vote for. In any case, more than two thousand comments (most of which are a direct attack on Miyazaki) on the Yahoo! Japan page may do more good than harm to his film, based on the box office receipts so far.

Captain Harlock CG Remake Film's 3-Minute Trailer Streamed

Cinema Today began streaming the second three-minute trailer for the upcoming computer-graphics film Space Pirate Captain Harlock. The trailer includes the theme song"Be the light" by rock band ONE OK ROCK. While the trailer still centers on the title character, it also features Yama, a man ordered to assassinate Harlock.

The film remakes the classic anime Space Pirate Captain Harlock with Toei Animation's highest production budget ever at the equivalent of more than 30 million U.S. dollars. Shun Oguri and Haruma Miurastar as the title pirate and the new character Yama, respectively.

In Leiji Matsumoto's original 1977-79 manga, the title character rebels against Earth's inept government and fights for humanity with his crew of 40 aboard the invincible space battleship Arcadia. The manga inspired a 1978-1979 television anime series, a few features, and the sequel Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX.

Writer Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam UC novels, live-action Bōkoku no Aegis) reconstructed the story to reflect the themes of modern society, and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) is directing with the latest filmmaking technology in the style of a Hollywood production.

In addition to Oguri and Miura, the film stars Yuu Aoi, Arata Furuta, Ayano Fukuda, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Maaya Sakamoto, Miyuki Sawashiro, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, and Chikao Ohtsuka as crew members aboard the Arcadia.

The film will open in Japan on September 7, and the London-based film sales company GFM Films has listed that it is working on an international dub.

47 RONIN Trailer

$

“We believe you are the only one who can help us.”

That ominous plea comes about halfway through the new trailer for “47 Ronin,” and while it’s directed at the character played by Keanu Reeves the entreaty could also describe how much Universal Pictures needs the actor to deliver a big audience for the troubled production.

Filmed in early 2011, the expensive movie—the budget was originally $175 million but has surpassed that figure—originally was set for release last Thanksgiving.

But Universal delayed the release to this February and then again to this Christmas because the film needed reshoots and more time to complete its visual effects.

Shot in 3-D by Carl Rinsch, a music video and commercial director who had never made a studio feature, “47 Ronin” stars a largely Japanese cast (including Hiroyuki Sanada, Ko Shibasaki and Rinko Kikuchi) alongside Reeves, who has not starred in a blockbuster hit since the "Matrix" trilogy.

"47 Ronin" is a new version of a Japanese legend about a group of samurai who avenge the death of their master and then commit ritual suicide.

As the trailer makes clear, there is no shortage of over-the-top visual effects in the film, but Universal has to make sure “47 Ronin” can hold its own against the monsters and beasts from Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” which opens just two weeks before “47 Ronin" finally arrives

Shibasaki Kou looks so pretty, Rinko Kikuchi is also in this movie and last I checked Akanishi Jin is in this movie as well--just not in this trailer. EDIT: Jin IS in the trailer and if you look at the comments you'll see screencaps of his appearance~

Seto Koji and Kitano Kie to star in Live-Action Haganai Movie

Cinema Today Movie News announced that Seto Koji and Kitano Kie are co-starring for the first time together in the live-action film adapation of "Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai" (lit. "I don't have many friends", short called ´Haganai´), a popular light novel by author Hirasaka Yomi, which sold more than 5.55 million copies. The movie is hitting theatres on New Year 2014 with a completely original story, making it a stand-alone work based on the original novel.

The story about a group of friendless young people, who founded the "Neighbor Club" to make friends, gained since it´s release as light novel 2009 popularity as Manga and Anime TV Series adaption as well. Seto Koji plays the protagonist Segawa Kotaka, a half-british/half-japanese student, who recently transfered to St. Chronica's Academy, a Catholic high school. Like on all the other former schools he attended, is Kotaka finding it difficult to make friends here. Mostly because he is prejudged by his schoolmates for his naturally blond-hair and fierce-looking eyes, that give him the look of a delinquent and scare others off. Seto Koji dyed his hair for the first time blond and confessed about his part: "First of all, the impression that this heartbreaking title was destined. This is because I also have few friends. In this movie appear characters that don´t have friends for many different reasons. I tried to perform the cause for Kodaka boldly, but carefully. I think this movie is giving a new sense of comedy for our audience to enjoy. And such a work that stays thought-provoking, after you watched it.

At his side is Kitano Kie playing the part of Yozora Mikazuki, a sullen girl with a "imaginary friend". Other cast member include Otani Mio, Takatsuki Sara, Kanjou Mao, Kubota Sayu, Yamada Momoka, Kurihara Louis, Watanabe Dai and Yoshizumi Ishihara. The filming ended in June 2013, directed by Takuro Oikawa.

Mr. Johnny Kitagawa (81) made reference to Jin Akanishi (29), who will make a debut for the first time in a year and five months with a new single "Hey What's Up?" CD that will be released on August 7th 2013.

He said to Jin: "Don't forget you got a daughter now. So, you have to take responsibility for your own work as long as you're her father", and urged Jin to concentrate on his work at the same time too.

Although he married Meisa Kuroki last February, Jin was virtually made to spend his life confined with his new family as a penalty due to his report after the fact of this incident.

Referencing back to when Jin debuted in U.S.A, Mr. Kitagawa commented about Jin in this manner: "He (Akanishi) is a unique guy, but he should give some actual results in Japan first before being active overseas".

Japanese teacher arrested after mixing his semen in woman’s lip balm

2757617_640px-280x175

Chalk this one up as one of the stupidest, as well as just plain awful crimes to be committed in Japan in recently. A 38 year old teacher in western Japan’s Tottori Prefecture was arrested after he was found to have put some of his own semen in the lip balm belonging to a female colleague. While the man was easy to catch, what with it being the day and age of DNA testing, the bad news is that woman didn’t discover the disgusting act until after using the lip balm.

Police revealed the man to be Atsushi Nakaoka, a supervisor at the prefecture’s education center for training and development. While he has a wife and child (who are no doubt disappointed beyond belief), and it is understood there was no romantic relationship between him and the victim, Nakaoka is alleged to have carried out the incident sometime between December 28th of last year, and January 7th at a local high school, where he worked as a teacher until March. The reason for smearing his bodily fluid on the woman’s lip balm? So that she wouldn’t be able to use it any longer. Because hiding it or throwing it away would have just been weird.

The poor woman realized the fluid was semen after arriving at the school on January 7th and using the balm, noticing something wasn’t right. She told the school’s authorities, who then got the police involved, and after some questioning Nakaoka became the prime suspect. Not to mention the DNA tests. While the police say that the teacher has confessed to the charges, a representative for the Tottori Education Committee has commented that they are still trying to establish the facts of what happened, but if it turns out to be true, they will seek a “harsh punishment.” It goes without saying that anything less than an immediate dismissal won’t be harsh enough.

SPEED goddess Takako Uehara kicks Shukan Bunshun's ass

SPEED singer Takako Uehara successfully sued Shukan Bunshun for damages, after magazine alleged mob links:

The Tokyo District Court on Wednesday ruled in favor of actress and singer Takako Uehara, 30, in a lawsuit for libel filed against publisher Bungeishunju, reports Nikkan Sports (July 24).
Uehara, a member of the J-pop group Speed, was awarded damages of 1.1 million yen for an article about the dark relationship between organized crime and the entertainment industry that appeared in the September 15 (2011) issue of weekly tabloid Shukan Bunshun.

The entertainer was critical over the publication of her photo in the magazine and in advertisements for the issue. The article claimed that she had visited a special club inside a building in the Nishi Azabu area of Minato Ward that was known for its gangster affiliations.

Uehara was introduced to the club through a television program. “A single visit does not constitute a connection to organized crime,” said Presiding judge Minoru Hatakeyama.

A representative from the editorial department at Shukan Bunshun, which is owned by Bungeishunju, said that the publication is considering an appeal.

The rest of the celebrities who were allegedly revealed to have mob links were: SMAP's Nakai Masahiro, EXILE, Ebizo Ichikawa, Hideaki Ito, Matsushima Nanako, Arisa Mizuki, Noriko Sakai, TOKIO's Shigeru Joshima, Akiko Wada, among others. You can see the rest of the list here.

AKB48′s Rino Sashihara: “I Get Money Even If You Hate Me!”

$
0
0

AKB48′s notorious sexual predator and top idol Rino Sashihara infuriated netizens yet again by bluntly expressing her disdain for her critics, saying she couldn’t care less about them as she gets paid all the same.

The 20-year-old HKT48 idol was recently interviewed by a fashion magazine, and wasted no time brushing off the scandal and her management’s expectations that she maintain the pretense of virginity:

“I have no idea whether there is supposed to be some sort of rule about not dating now… it’s not like nobody has anybody, I’ve got friends.”

Her demotion to HKT48 after the scandal erupted evidently left her unimpressed as well:

“I’m psychologically really strong. I don’t take much notice of people, and often don’t give a damn about what they think… I really worried about what to do when it happened, but after a little while I couldn’t give a fig about it any more.
I was unhappy the day it happened, but the day after I was back in high spirits. I can just change negative events into positive ones inside.
I don’t want people to misunderstand and think I don’t regret my actions, but I’m really quick to return to my usual high spirits.”

And as to her many vocal critics, she reveals she doesn’t actually care what they think as she gets paid either way:
“I don’t even look… there’s sort of a wall of me not caring, maybe that’s the difference between me and some of the other members.
Even if they are abusing me, I just think of it as me getting more money for doing nothing. Of course, it’s not like I’m getting that much, but its more enjoyable work than a normal job.”

She even makes some rare comments about AKB48 godfather Yasushi Akimoto, much in the news for alleged yakuza ties and much criticised for turning the Japanese music charts into an AKB48 marketing tool amongst other things:

“Akimoto-san gets criticised a lot for all sorts of things, but he can turn any situation to his advantage. People who don’t know about him just call him a fraudster and stuff though… he couldn’t get by by just doing that.
Myself, if I were just in it for the money I would have quit ages ago. The reason I’m still at it despite definitely having enough to live on for the rest of my life and support my children is because I enjoy it.”
An oblique hint about how impressed she is at how Akimoto spun out her own scandal (if indeed it was such) may well be embedded in her comments about him…

Her pronounced lack of contrition seems to have won her some unexpected respite from netizens haranguing her about her hymenal integrity:

“She’s brazen! She doesn’t just say ‘more work’ or ‘being on TV more,’ she comes straight out with ‘I’m getting money!’”

“I’m not sure about all this, but you certainly get to see where her priorities lie.”

“She’s making some incredibly crude statements there… what good qualities does she have exactly?”

“Sashihara may not be cute but I can’t deny she is tough as old boots.”

“I quite like how she is so intent on using everything to her advantage to make more money whilst she still has the chance.”

“She’s gotten quite sassy after not having been fired!”

“To think some other members got sacked just for appearing in purikura snaps with boys. Don’t get too full of yourself, you ugly little wretch!”

“Seeing how badly all her haters react to her comments is too entertaining!”

“Basically she has come out with ‘Anything you losers say to someone as rich as I am is just sour grapes!’”

“This ugly little bimbo doesn’t have an ounce of humility in her, does she? She may be 20 now and able to get away with this, but a few years down the line she’ll see how things change. It won’t be pretty.”

“Coming out with all this stuff just means she will be even more hated when her next scandal is released.”

“She’s so honest about things I can’t help but like her.”

“Her true self is such a sleazy low-life though, I can’t believe something like this maintains a fan base.”

“She’s like a female version of Horiemon.”

“I suppose we can’t put this down to Asperger’s or something. She doesn’t regret the enormous scandal and hassle she caused at all.”

“She’s so tough, she makes a coward like me really want to learn from her example!”

“Pure steel! She totally ignores all her critics, why is this ugly little idol so positive!?”

The girl with the most +1s by the end of the day, is the winner of that day. The competition will run from July 23 to October 30, 100 days long! This means that there will be 100 girls who will go onto the  2nd round of the audition.

The 2nd round audition will be held in Japan (Tokyo/Osaka) around November, and the girls must burden the travel costs themselves. While it is not a requirement to know Japanese, it is advised that you do. Then the number of girls will be cut down to 20, who will move onto the 3rd round.

The 3rd and final round will be held in Tokyo, where CanCam's editor in chief, stylist and cameraman will screen you. Then the winner(s) will be chosen. The winner will be awarded 10 million yen (approx. $100K USD), however if there are more than one winner, the prize money will be split among the girls. The winner(s) will then be hold a year long contract with CanCam.

Surprisingly to the staff of CanCam, many foreign girls have applied to the competition. One infamous pair to do so is 'living doll' Venus Angelic and her mother, Margaret Palermo. However the staff are not opposed to non-Japanese girls applying to competition, once they are competent in the language. While there is a lower age limit for aspiring models, there is no upper limit.

Mana Ashida to star in Isao Yukisada’s “Entaku”

entaku-01

On Friday it was announced that popular child actress Mana Ashida will get her first solo starring role in Isao Yukisada’s Entaku (lit. round table).

If you’re one of the 20+ million people who have seen Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi daikaiju epic Pacific Rim recently, you probably recognize Ashida as the childhood version of Rinko Kikuchi’s character Mako Mori. However, fans of Japanese entertainment know her as the semi-ubiquitous go-to girl for epicuteness. Basically, whenever an adorable and/or precocious little girl is needed for a television commercial, TV drama, or movie, chances are Ashida is high on the list.

This time around Ashida’s role will require a bit of an image shift. She’ll play Kokko, an obstinate, sharp-tongued 3rd-grader. 8-year-old Kokko lives in Osaka and is always surrounded by her large family, with her entire world consisting of the few miles between home and school, but she’s always unhappy and longs to be left alone.

The role will also require Ashida, a Hyogo native, to speak in the Kansai dialect for the first time in her career. Kansai dialect is generally thought of to sound “harsh” or gruff to outsiders. According to Ashida, learning standard Japanese in school had caused her to start to forget the Kansai dialect, so she had to learn from her mom and dad and then practice with her grandparents, who still live in Kansai.

Filming began on location in Osaka in mid-July and Ashida has been keeping up the accent for fun even while not filming to stay in Kokko-chan mode.

“Entaku” will get a nation-wide release in Japan in 2014.

What do kids love more than porn? Facebook and 2channel!

chart

Kaspersky Lab, the Russian computer security company, has recently released detailed statistics about what kids are attempting to access on their parents’ computers.

Surprisingly enough, the number one thing kids worldwide were looking for wasn’t pornography!

In fact, our young ones were over twice as interested in social networking sites as adult sites. The company recorded 52,000,000 attempts to get chatty with friends and only 25,000,000 tries at finding something, uh, stimulating. Coming in third was online shopping. Fourth place was reserved for forums and chat rooms.

I tell you what, things have changed a lot since I was a kid.

On a national level, though, we find a wider variation in results, with kids from the US and England choosing “adult entertainment” first, online shopping second, and social networks third. Parents, if you want to know what your kids are doing on their computers… well, actually, you probably don’t.

And what was the number one category that Japanese kids were looking up? Something to help them “blow off steam”? Maybe hoping to buy some new clothes with their parents’ credit card? Trying to Facestalk that new cute teacher?

Nope! They were looking up forums and chatrooms, like 2channel—the inspiration for other highly-respected anonymous bulletin boards.

To be fair, the number two position was filled by young ones looking to explore the wonderful world of naked people. Japanese kids must be comparatively anti-social though; the number three position was taken by online shopping.

▼This is what Japanese kids really want!
2chan

Japanese Internet commenters didn’t seem particularly surprised.

I wonder which category 2channel’s pink forum falls under.

Well, I don’t not understand.

Please, people, stop using 2channel. It’s a waste of your life.

Well, if this includes matome (news collection) sites, there are a lot of different types from which you can get good information.

It’s normal that they are interested in erotic stuff, isn’t it? I remember when I was a kid, I went to a mountain ditch to go fishing for crayfish and I found an old beat-up porno magazine someone had dropped. As soon as I saw that, I lost my mind. To be honest, I really struggled not to bring it home with me.

An Internet without anonymous posting just really isn’t the Internet.

I bet that there are a lot of people who are addicted to 2channel.

ADULT!!

For many Japanese commenters, the idea of using social networking sites—which generally require use of a real name or at least a constant handle—is quite unsettling. As one commenter wrote: “The cultures sure are different.”

Another user made an excellent point, stating that 31 percent of kids were trying to access social networking sites and 16 percent were looking adult sites. In Japan, on the other hand, while forums and chat rooms were at 34 percent, adult sites were at 23 percent–much higher than the global average. Or, as the user wrote, “Saying that Japanese kids like 2channel more than adult sites isn’t quite right. They’re wild, horny monkeys!”

Well, now, that sounds like the Internet I grew up with.

Square Enix has released a two-minute preview video of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster‘s newly added voice drama.

Set one year after the events of Final Fantasy X-2 and penned by Kazushige Nojima, the 30-minute voice drama will feature the original cast and new characters.

Tidus: “It’s been two years since Spira entered the Eternal Calm. I was given a new life. For an entire year, I was able to walk alongside Yuna. It was fun. It really was.”

Chuami : “Kurgum and I were walking around the Bevelle stadium road, formerly known as Mika Road. The stadium that should’ve been completed by now is still under construction, so I wonder if the tournament will actually take place here. If not, I wonder how the Spira council will take responsibility. Oh well, it doesn’t matter to me. I have nothing to do with it. The only issue for me is the large crowd ahead, and the star shining in the middle of it.”

Kurgum: “Hey Chiwami, not over there! We’re in a hurry.

Chuami: “I waited for you, so we might as well just show up late. Anyways, isn’t that Tidus?”
