Kou Shibasaki (32) is going to star in the upcoming movie "Kuime" to be released on August 23rd, 2014. The movie is based on "Yotsuya Kaidan" and it is directed by Miike Takashi . The images to "Oiwa-san" played by Shibasaki have been revealed for the first time.
Shibasaki usually has a cool and beautiful public image. But for this time, she had a huge makeover to play the role of grotesquely looking Oiwa-san. It is said a four-hour makeup application procedure is needed to transform Shibasaki into Oiwa. She enthusiastically said, "A large-scale special make-up was used for the first time. I like this look very much."
Kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa (36) is teaming up with Shibasaki for the movie. Ebizo Ichikawa to star as both a stage actor named "Kosuke Hasegawa" and his "Shin Yotsuya Kaidan" character, "Lemon". Shibasaki will play Kosuke's lover, actress "Miyuki Goto", as well as Oiwa in the stage play. In the film, the two co-stars depict in the stage play bleed over into their real-life relationship until the line between fantasy and reality is blurred and fall into the depths of fear.
