Actress Aya Ueto (28) has been selected to host the 55th Annual Japan Record Awards (TBS - 12/30). This will be her 2nd time hosting the event, the first one being in 2008.
Her husband since September of last year HIRO (44) and his group EXILE have already won as one of the "Best Song" awardees for their song "EXILE PRIDE ~Konna sekai wo ai suru tame~" and are in the running to win the grand prize. The TV station is still "currently under negotiations with EXILE" concerning their participation in the said event, but HIRO will be focusing on his work as president and producing for LDH come next year, and will definitely make his grand appearance here so that everyone can send him off with a bang. It seems that we'll finally see the couple together in public for the first time since they got married.
EXILE has won the grand prize at the Japan Record Awards for 3 consecutive years from 2008-2010, 2nd in history to do so after Ayumi Hamasaki also achieved a similar feat. They are also one of the favorites to win the award this year, and doing so will bring their total tally to 4, the most ever by an artist. Will we be able to see a touching scene where the couple will share their happiness onstage?
Ueto comments: "I am truly honored to be selected once again after 5 years to become the host of the Japan Record Awards". This year, she played the role of Hanzawa Naoki's wife in the drama of the same name which has shattered ratings records all around. Will she once again be the supportive wife who encourages her husband this time to win the award?
